Alayna – In Her Own Words

Alayna Baillod is the Founder of Self Care Impact Counseling, providing trauma-informed therapy, couples counseling, and EMDR consultation in Longmont and Lakewood, Colorado.

“I started Self Care Impact because I wanted therapy to feel both real and clinically strong. Clients often describe me as down-to-earth and direct, and I also care deeply about using approaches that are rooted in evidence and nervous system science. Whether I am helping a couple slow down high-conflict cycles using the Gottman Method, or supporting someone in processing trauma through EMDR, my goal is to offer a grounded, supportive space where you can do meaningful work and leave with tools you can actually use.”

The Challenge: Breaking Patterns That Keep Repeating

Trauma, codependency, and relationship struggles often come from patterns that started as protection, and then became automatic over time. Those survival strategies can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected from yourself, and unsure how to build a life or relationship that feels safe, steady, and truly yours.

The Solution: Depth Work With Practical Forward Movement

At Self Care Impact, we take a whole-person approach. In my work, I often integrate EMDR, somatic approaches, and parts work (IFS) to help you understand what is happening in your nervous system and shift patterns at the root, not just at the surface. My style is warm and straightforward: we will name what is happening, practice new skills, and keep the work moving at a pace that feels challenging but safe.

The Result: More Freedom, Stronger Boundaries, and Real Connection

Clients often leave this work with a clearer understanding of their triggers and needs, healthier boundaries, and more self-compassion. The goal is not perfection, it is more choice. More ability to stay grounded, communicate clearly, and build relationships and routines that support the life you want.

Experience: Clinical Leadership and Specialized Trauma Care

Alayna’s career brings together front-line trauma work, clinical supervision, and practice leadership.

Narcissistic Abuse Recovery: Alayna has developed a focused track for clients healing from narcissistic abuse and complex relational trauma. This work supports survivors in rebuilding self-trust, strengthening boundaries, and reclaiming identity after long-term emotional manipulation.

EMDR Consultant and Clinical Mentor: As an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, Alayna supports other clinicians in delivering high-quality EMDR and trauma-informed care. This helps ensure Self Care Impact’s clinical standards stay strong and current.

MSW Systems Perspective: Alayna’s social work background informs a person-in-environment approach. She considers not only individual symptoms, but also the broader context that shapes well-being, including family dynamics, work stress, culture, and support systems.

“Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness. It took me years to understand that this, too, was a gift.”

Bet you didn’t know: Alayna has spent more than 500 days primitively camping in remote depths of the wilderness.   She lived in the desert of southern Utah for three consecutive months at age sixteen!   She has always preferred the outdoors to indoors, even as a young child. Alayna is originally from the Detroit area and has spent the last decade living in Colorado, Utah and California.
